Lime plaster is a hydraulic lime with both interior and exterior applications. Its primary exterior application is the renovation of old city facades. Indoors, we use hydraulic lime plasters as an alternative to clay or as a ground layer for tadelakt.
When we compare lime plaster to cement, we see clear differences. For instance, it is strong but not as hard, making it ideal for old substrates. Where cement could damage the substrate, lime plaster is a perfect choice. Beyond that, lime plaster is permeable to water vapour, which is good for the moisture balance of your walls.
