Lime plaster is a hydraulic lime that is suitable for both interior and exterior use. For instance, outdoors it is primarily used for the renovation of old urban facades. Indoors, we use hydraulic lime plasters as an alternative to clay or as a base layer for tadelakt.
We see clear differences when we compare lime plaster with cement. For instance, it is strong but not as hard, which is ideal for old substrates. Where cement could essentially pull the substrate apart, a lime plaster is a perfect choice. Beyond that, the lime plaster is water permeable, which is good for the moisture balance of your walls.
